As lead or Delaware counsel in reorganization and liquidation proceedings, Ms. Owens has a diverse practice, representing corporate debtors, foreign representatives, creditors’ committees, examiners, trustees, and various other secured and unsecured creditor constituencies, including lenders, bondholders, liquidators, landlords, preference defendants, and acquirers of distressed assets.
For eight years, Karen served on the Executive Committee of the Delaware Bankruptcy American Inn of Court, a professional organization dedicated to the mission of fostering excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills within the bankruptcy community of Delaware. Currently, she serves on the Executive Board of the Delaware chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She is also a founder, editor, and regular contributor of the “Delaware Bankruptcy Insider", a blog designed to bring readers a comprehensive analysis of the latest Delaware corporate bankruptcy news and rulings.
Starting her career at Skadden Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom as an associate, Ms. Owens went on to serve as a law clerk to Honorable Brendan Linehan Shannon and later joined Ashby & Geddes in 2007 where today she is a partner.
